Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council-National Brain Research Centre (BRIC-NBRC) is an autonomous institute of Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India. The Centre has ongoing research programs on basic brain functions and brain-related disorders. BRIC-NBRC is recognized as an Institution of Excellence for neuroscience in India and is part of the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council, which is an autonomous body under Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.
BRIC-NBRC invites applications for faculty positions from qualified, dynamic and result-oriented scientists to carry out research in advanced areas of neuroscience, and those who have a genuine interest in teaching. Candidates should have a proven record of scientific accomplishment in the form of recent peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals of international repute, and experience as per the requirements of the position.
Current research at the Centre encompasses molecular, systems, computational neuroscience, and neuroimaging aspects of basic and translational neurosciences. Candidates with research focus in these and other multidisciplinary areas that the Centre will like to develop such as - system neuroscience (involving non-human primates, rodent and mouse model) and/or candidates with expertise in functional activities of the brain in health and diseased condition using multimodal approach (fMRI-EEG). Other areas of neurobiology will be given equal importance. The Centre encourages collaborations and has close ties with many National Research Centres and Universities, and leading hospitals of the region. BRIC-NBRC hosts state of the art behavioural core, in vivo recording from freely-moving animal including monkey or higher vertebrates, patch-clamp recordings from slice or primary cell, 2-Photon imaging with behavioural and electrophysiology set up, MRI/MEG/EEG and transcranial electrical and magnetic stimulation systems as part of the National Neuroimaging Facility and extremely well-managed animal facility with transgenic mouse, rat, songbird models and monkey. The selected candidates will be provided shared laboratory space and adequate funds to start their research program. However, the faculty is expected to raise extramural grants to build and support their research programs. The faculty is also required to teach and participate in the management of the Centre with responsibilities assigned by the competent authority as per requirements.
General Conditions: -
1. The initial appointment by Direct recruitment/ contract including short term (>2 years) shall be on probation for a period of 2 years from the date which he/she assumes charge of the post.
2. The probation period may be extended with the approval of the competent authority
3. Shown above are the total number of available positions (may vary at the time of selection). The number of positions filled shall be based on the availability of suitable candidates, and the requirement and ability of the Centre to support their laboratory set up.
4. All educational, professional and technical qualifications should be from a recognized Board / University.
5. The experience requirement specified for the said post should be the experience acquired after obtaining the minimum educational qualifications required for the post.
6. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
7. There shall be no upper age limit for regular employees of BRIC-NBRC or any employee of DBT.
8. The post advertised shall be need based without any commitment for its filling.
9. Nationality: Indian citizens and persons with OCI status/ NRI/ PIO, subject to prior clearance from Ministry of Home Affairs, shall be eligible for appointment (only for direct recruitment)
10. Interested candidates are requested to send their copy of bio-data containing details of qualifications, positions held, professional experience/distinctions, copies of notable publications and personal details like date of birth, citizen ship status etc (preferably in a single PDF file), with names and e-mail addresses of at least five potential referees along with self-attested copies of certificate and application fee (as prescribed below) only . The application should also be accompanied by a three to four page note on the proposed research programme for the first three years, if given appointment. Mere fulfilment of the minimum prescribed qualification and experience will not vest any right on a candidate for being shortlisted.
11. For Direct Recruitment: Application Fee (non-refundable) Rs. 750/- + 18% GST for General Candidates (US$50 for applicants with OCI status) by online transfer only. The SC/ST/PWBD/Women candidates and SC/ST/PWBD/Women candidates (with OCI status) are exempted from payment of application fee as per Govt. of India rules in this regard. The receipt of the payment of online application fees must be attached along with their filled-up application form.

13. The applicants presently working in Government/Semi-government organizations/ public sector undertaking/ autonomous organizations who are applying for Direct Recruitment shall have to apply via proper channel and submit a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the present employer either with application form or at the time of Interview, if shortlisted. Such applicants shall not be tested/ interviewed in case of their failure to produce the ‘NOC’.
14. Advertisement No., Name of the post and Post Code applied for should be clearly mentioned in the subject of the email, failing which the application will not be considered. Applications received after the last date, self- attested copies of testimonials and certificates etc. /incomplete applications will be rejected.
15. Mere fulfilment of the minimum prescribed qualification and experience will not vest any right on a candidate for being called for interview. Only the candidates short-listed by a duly constituted Screening Committee will be called for interview Screening Committee reserves the right to call for additional documents from the applicants or invite comments from expert referees to decide upon suitability of the applicant to be considered further in the selection process. The decision of the Institute in this regard will be final and no interim inquiries in this regard will be entertained.
